Development Planning Changes

Government is planning to draw up five-year and 20-year development plans.

But first it will hold public consultations to seek people’s views.

Acting Prime Minister, Attorney-General and Minister for Finance Aiyaz Saiyed-Khaiyum made this announcement in Sigatoka last Saturday.

He was in the tourist town to open a new $3.2-million complex owned by Rajendra and Asha Prasad of Creative Investments (Fiji).

“We are going to put in place a development plan. Prior to the first coup in 1987 we used to have a five-year development plan so the people knew where we were going,” he said.

“Everybody knew and everyone participated in that. We will now be putting in place a five-year plan and a 20-year plan going into the future.”
