Twenty-six (26) corporate teams will compete at the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association’s inaugural charity golf day at Denarau Golf and Racquet Club on July 4.

FHTA board member and Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort general manager Peter Hopgood said the charity golf day should be a fun day while simultaneously raising money for a very worthy cause.

“The tournament is in its first year and it is hoped that this event will flourish and continue for many years to come. Our goal this year is to raise more than $30,000,” Hopgood said.

“The hoteliers are eagerly waiting the big day and this year all monies raised will go towards installing water fountains in a number of rural and maritime schools.”

Hopgood said the event should attract over 100 golfers vying for more than $20,000 in prizes.

There will be catering on most of the holes.

He added more than $20,000 worth of prizes would also be on offer and they have a large number of slots available for interested golfers.

He thanked sponsors Tappoo, Jacks of Fiji and Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course for assisting.

“Luxury 5-star resorts from all around Fiji have also donated six separate prizes of five nights accommodation for closest to the pin, longest drive and straightest drive.”

The event is held after the FHTA AGM and Fiji Sun is the media partner for the event.

Meanwhile, Nadi-based professional golfer Sam Lee took out the two-day 2015 Fiji Premium Pro-Am tournament at Denarau over the weekend.
