Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo In Contest For New Fiji Airways Route

Fiji Airways has narrowed down three options for its new long-haul flight destinations.
Board director, Stefan Pichler, said: “We actually have three alternatives; one of it is Singapore, the other one China and here most probably Beijing and the last one of course Tokyo,” he said.
But Mr Pichler said the business case was in the making at this stage.
“As far as I can see, it is a very close race between all three of them,” Mr Pichler told the Fiji Sun.
“But, as Fiji Airways is a commercial entity, the best business case will win.
“And the outcome will largely depend on what kind of codeshare deal we can strike with any local airline to feed our flights.”
Given the current fleet numbers and the plans to get in more aircraft, Fiji Airways has the capacity to now have more long-haul flights in addition to Los Angeles, USA and Hong Kong.
Given the increasing number of Asian travellers globally, the chosen markets are seen to have a lot of potential to increase our tourism numbers.
