Federation president Dr Robin Mitchell said they have selected their travelling team and are now working towards their levies.

The two sides are not only preparing for the five-a-side game in Port Moresby but are also preparing for the Oceania cup in New Zealand in October which will serve as qualifiers for 2016 Rio Olympics.

“The teams have been selected and we are now just working towards paying off our levies for the Pacific Games,

“We are also preparing for the Oceania cup that will be held in New Zealand in October and that’s the qualification for Rio,” Mitchell said.

“For us in terms of participating there is pressure on Fiji Hockey to attend so we will be sending both the men’s and women’s teams.”

While the Pacific Games group will head to PNG there will be players from the squad preparing for October.

“Get players to sign an agreement that they will continue the preparation because for us you just got to keep going, while one team goes to PNG, there is one group here will continue to train for October and December,” he added.

The Australian Country side will be coming over in December as part of their development programme.

“New Zealand hockey has also written to us to ask if their President’s XI teams could come and play in the tournament again.”

Mitchell also confirmed that few of Asian teams are also keen to join in the competition in December.
