Sewerage Plant For Savusavu Soon

There are plans in place to set up a sewerage plant in Savusavu Town soon.

This was confirmed by the assistant minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment, Lorna Eden, during an interview.

Mrs Eden toured the Labasa Town Council project sites yesterday with the Labasa/ Savusavu special administrator, Vijay Chand, council chief executive officer Jiten Prasad and Savusavu town council chief executive officer Dhamendra Lal.

The assistant minister highlighted there was a problem a few years ago about the location of setting up the town sewage plant system.

“But from what I have gathered they have earmarked an area of where it will be located so that project will happen soon,” she said.

“The town is growing and we need to have one plant and we can’t just ignore it. A lot of people don’t understand that it’s not an old sewage scheme like the one that used to be in Nasinu 40 years ago.”

She said the new sewage schemes made today were very clean.

Mr Chand said there was already a budgeted amount for this project.
