Another suspect charged with the assault on Police Commissioner Bernardus Groenewald appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Uate Baleono, along with four others has been charged with six counts of aggravated robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, and intent of causing grievous harm to the Commissioner of Police.

The Commissioner was injured when he confronted armed robbers at the Distill Bottle Shop in Flagstaff, Suva, last Thursday evening.

The court is also considering other cases of similar nature against four of the accused, Jeke Vakararawa, Tevita Qanivalu, Seremaia Mudura and Mosese Rarau.

All the accused including Rarau have been further remanded in Police custody upon Prosecution’s application seeking for further time to complete the pending investigation.

The matter would be called on Friday this week to determine if more time is needed to complete the Police investigations on all accused.
