Fijian Warriors Upset Pampas

The Telecom Fijian Warriors upset the Argentina Pampas in the second match of their Uruguay tour 23-21 yesterday
Team manager Taniela Domoni applauded the gutsy performance.
“The boys remained determined and confident and got the job done.”
The Fijians led 18-7 at half time with tries to John Stewart and Api Naikatini, a conversion to Suva fireman Serupepeli Vularika and two penalties by Tikilaci Vuibau.
Even though the Pampas led at some stage in the second-half, the Warriors did not stop hunting and scored their final try through winger Nacani Wakaya to win 23-21.
“Hard work pays off for our local players, they gave their best and they deserved the win,” Domoni said.
Vodafone Flying Fijians head coach John McKee was pleased with the effort.
“It was very pleasing to hear the news,” he said.
“The team and coaching staff have worked hard to get to this level of competitiveness on the international stage, this is a very good achievement.
“I look forward to the coaches’ reports and video of the game. I will be looking closely at the performance of the Warriors for possible inclusion in the Maori All Blacks game and Pacific Nations Cup.”
The side will play their final match against Uruguay XV on Monday at 7am (Fiji).
