William O’Connell is expected to meet tournament top seed Marvin So’ Onalone of Samoa in the final of the 2015 Fiji Tattslotto Open Tennis at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club on Sunday.

This was after he comfortably beat Shivneel Chand (6-0, 6-0) in the quarterfinal yesterday.

Fiji Tennis coach Sachin Reddy said the Pacific Games squad was looking well.

“There is quite a number of top seeds that have gone through. The boys are going pretty well with great tennis and this is a great build-up and exposure for the Pacific Games,” he said.

US-based Fiji’s Annie Shannon is the top seed in the girls, while Florence Wasko is playing extremely well and based on seedings Mulan Kamoe, and Loraine Bainimataku (Vanuatu) should not be left out.

Tournament referee David Smith said all the teams have brought in big number to prepare for the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

“This year has seen a record entry in the 28 events for the five days of tennis action,” said Smith.
