Two florists got out of their comfort zones to market what they had produced through their love for flowers.

Pravina Rae, 49, and Manowar Goundar, 50, were among florists showcasing their flowers during the Contain Yourself Market Day at Ratu Sukuna Park in Suva yesterday.

Mrs Rae ventured into commercial floral business five years ago. She previously ran a second-hand clothing shop at Nausori Town prior to this.

“I am here today to showcase and advertise my flowers to the people. I run a flower nursery business at home,” she said.

“I sold my clothing business two years ago just to look after my flowers. I find this much better than what I was doing previously because the flowers are beautiful and it makes me happy.”

Meanwhile, Mrs Goundar was selling at the market day for the first time yesterday.

She said the market day provided a platform where she could market the products of her hobby to earn money.

They were selling bougainvillea, cactus, euphorbia and other flowers.

They were among more than 20 vendors selling their products during the market day. They are also members of the Suva Orchid and Horticulture Group.
