New Zealand Prime Minister John Key could visit Fiji this year.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola confirmed that the matter was raised during consultations with New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully in Auckland in May this year.

“We will let you know when it has been firmed up,” said Ratu Inoke.

At their Auckland meeting, the two foreign ministers discussed progress with rebuilding the countries’ relationship following their earlier meeting last year in Nadi, Fiji.

Their talks covered bilateral issues, Pacific, regional and global issues, including co-operation around New Zealand’s term on the United Nations Security Council.

They agreed that the talks should become an annual event, with the next session taking place in Fiji next year.
