Lautoka defeated Tebara Bus Tailevu 22-6 in the second round of the Skipper Cup competition at Ratu Cakobau Park yesterday.

The sugar city side had a good start, resulting in hooker Viliame Nabiau scoring their first try  in the 5th minute.

Tailevu flyhalf Jo Navue successfully kicked their first penalty after the Lautoka defence were penalised for foul play.

Lautoka regrouped well again strengthening their attacking line which saw flyhalf Lepani Seduadua scoring in the corner. Just minute to half time Tailevu flyhalf Navue kicked another penalty. Lautoka led 10-6 at halftime.

The Ifereimi Rawaqa-coached side lifted their momentum in the second half and resulting in Jerry Vunisa scoring their third try which was converted by Sireli Satala.

Lautoka utilise the opportunities which resulted in fullback Mesake Nasalo scoring their bonus try just minutes to fulltime. Lautoka wins 22-6 at full time.

Comments; Winning head Coach Ifereimi Rawaqa said the bonus win was their main target yesterday.

“We are happy with the bonus win which was our main target. Our players played  according to our game plan in the first half but in the second half things started to fall apart but I reminded the players to believe in themselves.

“Most of these players are new to this level of competition but I’m happy with their performance.”

Despite their second straight loss, Tailevu manager Sakiasi Salababa applauded the  performance.

“It was a good game. The players improved from their first round performance.”
