Wife Waited In Vain For Husband To Turn Up

A  housewife waited in vain for her husband to pick her up last Wednesday night not knowing she would never see him alive again.

Losana Ligani, 22, was at Lami Village last Wednesday night when she last spoke with her husband, Inosi Masaurua, to pick her up from the Hansons Supermarket bustop in Makoi.

Mr Masaurua, a technical officer with the Water Authority of Fiji, had finished work that last Wednesday afternoon and told his wife he was drinking grog at Nauluvatu in Samabula, Suva, and he would come and pick her up afterwards.

She waited and he didn’t turn up; his phone was also diverted. Early last Thursday morning Mr Masaurua was involved in an accident when a taxi driven by a 27-year-old allegedly hit him while he was trying to cross at Nasinu 4 miles.

He was admitted at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and never recovered from a coma. He died last Saturday afternoon.

The two had only been married for nine months. Ms Ligani said she never thought she would lose her husband in their first year of marriage. She said this would be one of her most unforgettable memories, one she would never forget. Police investigations are continuing.
