Rugby 7s wizard Waisale Serevi helped C K Ezy Buy Tabadamu team win the Samoa Independence International 7s last Saturday in Apia.

Tabadamu thumped Apia Maroons 38-5 in the Cup final at Apia Park.

Serevi who turned 47 last month now lives in the United States of America.

The evergreen renowned international rugger was happy to be given a chance to play with some of his countrymen.

“I was invited to be the 7s Ambassador by the government of Samoa as part of the Independence Day celebrations,” Serevi said.

“The Tabadamu team were two players short and Setefano Cakau asked me to help.

“It was a tough competition where we beat Yamacia 10-5 in the quarterfinals, Vaiyala 19-14 in the semifinals.

Serevi said the Tabadamu team played well.

“They have some promising players who can make the national 7s squad.

“Sete is Sete and I believe he has all it takes to go to the Rio Olympics.

“He is a reliable player and he does all the right things during the game and a very consistent player,” he said.
