Kaloucava Trying Her Best

Ana Kaloucava aims to be in her best form before the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea next month.

Attending Texas A &M University Commerce in the United Sates, Kaloucava arrived last Wednesday and competed in the Shop N Save Athletics Fiji weekly club competition on Saturday at the ANZ Stadium.

“I need to acclimatise since I’ve been away for a while,” Kaloucava said.

She finished second in the Open women 400metres clocking 59.3 seconds.

“I will need to improve my time before the Pacific Games.”

Kaloucava, 21, is satisfied with her progress so far.

“I started at New Mexico Military Institute and was there for two years,”she said.

“Now that I’m at Texas A &M University Commerce I’ve managed to improve my time in the 400m hurdles.”

Narara struggling

Ratutira Narara is struggling to book a spot to the Pacific Games next month.

“I’m in the reserve list and I’m trying my best to be part of the team.

“This year it’s very challenging to me because I’m juggling work and training and it’s not easy for me.

“But 400m is not new to me and I’m confident I will make the cut.”
