Three suspects charged in a series of aggravated robberies and theft in Nadi appeared at the Nadi Magistrates Court yesterday before Magistrate Mohamed Azar.

Josaia Dobui, a 20 year old of Solovi in Nadi had four case files alleging two counts of aggravated robbery and theft. He is also charged with two counts of breach of order of a suspended sentence in November 2014 and February 2015.

Dobui is also wanted in Suva for a case which involves attacks on the Commissioner of Police two weeks ago.

The third case file involves Dobui along with Samisoni Mekemeke, a 19 year old of Solovi in Nadi and Viliame Tui Vanuavou, a 20 year old of Nadawa in Suva.

All three have been charged with one count each of aggregated robbery and damaging property.

In the fourth case file, Dobui and Mekemeke have been charged each with one count of aggravated burglary and theft.

The last two cases for the three have been transferred to the Lautoka High Court on June 10.

Police Prosecutor Inspector Sunil Datt Gosai requested if the suspect could be remanded in police custody for seven days because of his case in Suva. The court refused the application stating that there could be human right issues raised while in police custody.

For the first two cases of Dobui, he will reappear on June 15 at the Nadi Magistrates Court.

The three are now at the Natabua Remand Centre in Lautoka until their next court date.
