A student’s dream to take a selfie photo with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama came true on Monday.

Gospel Primary School Year Eight student Shahista Dutt remains elated over the opportunity of taking a selfie (photo) with Mr Bainimarama during the National Environment Week launch in Valelevu, Nasinu.

Shahista said she was excited and happy that Mr Bainimarama agreed to have his photo taken with her.

“I just went close to him and asked him politely for a photo and he replied, ‘Sure.’.”

“It was an honour to take a photo with him. I’ve always wanted to have a photo taken with him because he is a very good Prime Minister. He has done so much for us students in providing us with our free education and textbooks. He also helps our parents a lot,” she said.

Shahista said she planned to print and frame the photo to be a memorabilia at home.

Meanwhile, Ana Tolia, 13, also a student of the school, described Mr Bainimarama as a very jovial man.

Ana was among the six students who appeared on yesterday’s Fiji Sun front page with Mr Bainimarama.

“We were at the booth and watching a video about zip liner up in Namosi when he came and started talking to us. He told us that he has been to that place, but with his present age, he would not be able to go on the zip liner anymore. That made us laugh,” Ana said.

She said Mr Bainimarama later reminded them to remember what he had told them about rubbish disposal.
