More Companies For Excellence Encouraged

Fiji Business Excellence Awards former winning organisations have encouraged Fijian companies to get their businesses involved in a programme that helps steer companies towards world-class business excellence.

These were sentiments by Vodafone Fiji and Reddy Group of Companies participants at the end of the four-day training for Fiji Business Excellence Awards evaluators at Holiday Inn Suva yesterday.

130 evaluators out of which 50 are new came together to learn about evaluating organisation applicants as stipulated under the Malcolm Baldrige Framework.

The US framework was introduced in 2012. The evaluators are selected from past recipients of the awards and also from organisations that support the awards.

The event is being organised by the Fiji National University’s National Training & Productivity Centre with a facilitator from Singapore, George Wong.

Vodafone Fiji has been winner of the FBEA President’s awards four times in recent years.

And because of this Public Relations specialist Fozia Mukta said Vodafone highly values the business excellence framework.

“To strive for business excellence is in the genes of the people in our organisation,” she said.

“The framework has allowed us to engage our workforce and excel in our business through strengthening our processes and by identifying the areas for improvement.

Vodafone took a step further in the Pacific region and won the award at Asia Pacific Quality Awards last year.

Reddy Group of Companies through Tanoa Hotel Group is also an award-winning organisation through FBEA in 2008 and 2009.

Group Training and Development Manager, Reddy Group, Alamgeer Shah said: “Any organisation that wants that competitive edge one of the key attributes of this framework is that it allows you that competitive edge.”

The Fiji Business Excellence Awards evaluation process is expected to begin towards the end of June and complete by August end before the awards in November.
