Fijians have been urged to eat right, live a balanced life and have a healthy lifestyle.

The plea has come from the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Maciu Lumelume, while launching Fiji National University’s International Food Festival 2015 at the Tiri Restaurant and Bar at Nasese, Suva, last night.

This year’s event has the theme – “Home Gardening and Backyard Farming – Food for All”.

“Knowing it’s a festival of food, it will be an opportunity the people of Fiji will look forward to as they anticipate enjoying food from all over the world, as well as seeing demonstrations on how these are prepared during the week-long event,” Mr Lumelume said.

“The issue of healthy eating will be emphasised during the course of this event, therefore it is important for us all as we try to live a balanced life with eating healthy and also live a healthy lifestyle.”

Mr Lumelume said the launch was a great achievement for the Fiji National University as he launched the festival, which is being held for the second year.

“I am certain the momentum from the success last year will only push the committee and the University to invest their time, energy and all into making this year’s event even bigger, better and more successful,” he said.
