Quick response from National Fire Authority (NFA) firefighters in Labasa saved a home at Emily Road, Siberia, last Friday.

Home owner Imran Khan was at Labasa Town when the incident happened.

Neighbour Navin Narayan notified the fire brigade when he saw smoke coming out of the house.

“I quickly called the fire brigade. The firemen were so fast to arrive at the scene,” Mr Narayan said.

He said the fire brigade put out the fire before it destroyed the entire home.

“Mr Khan is so lucky that his house was not fully destroyed, thanks to the National Fire Authority.” NFA chief executive officer John O’Connor called on members of the public and home owners to always watch their properties.

“When leaving to go to town, you should check that all electrical appliances are switched off,” Mr O’Connor said.

He commended Labasa firefighters for putting out the fire before it destroyed the home.
