Different Ways In Court

Interesting how first the Electoral Commission sought advice of the Solicitor-General on whether or not Mikaele Leawere should be given a seat in Parliament. They then ignored this and sought a second opinion.

Also interesting how the second opinion was sought from a firm which has close working relations in Fiji with the chairman’s firm. SG gave his opinion which he chose to follow convention and not to justify in the court of law. But the other firm (DC Patel) was again called in for a lengthy submission.

What happened to the Electoral Commission being a nominal defendant? Went to being an active one very fast.

CHIEFLY PLANS

The SODELPA Opposition MPs have started their constituency visits in Nadroga-Navosa.

The Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa and Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu have not been assigned any specific meeting venue. They will apparently be trying to cover all the 10 venues during the two nights of meetings.

SODELPA obviously wants to use its chiefly links. The question is what impact will the two make in their visits?
