Apisai Taoba aims for the best in his first 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea next month.

The Narociva, Nayau, Lau, native is the youngest member in the Fiji National Rugby League 9s team who believes the Pacific Games will not be an easy journey.

“This is my first Pacific Games and I’m happy to be part of team Fiji to the games. I know it will not be an easy challenge but I believe in myself,” he said.

“This will be a good chance for me to prove myself since this is the first step to many good things to come in the future.”

The 21-year-old said even though he’s the youngest member in the team he will fulfill his responsibilities and is adamant for a positive performance.

“I will not see myself as a youngest member in the team but I will always fight for my playmaker position in the team,” he said.

“There are senior players in the team who have taught me a lot like Etika Rokobuli, Asaeli Sorovaki and Jone Sariri and also being part of the team have taught a lot of techniques and skills of being a good playmaker.”

He started his rugby league career in Nasinu Secondary School where he was part of the U15, U17 and the winning U19 team in 2012 against Ratu Kadavulevu School. He played alongside players like former Penrith Panthers U20 player Sakeo Raloa and Abele Yalayalatabua. Anasilini Ratuva
