Mesulame Erone Tomasi, is a hyperactive boy. He hardly keeps still. Today he is bed-ridden at the Lautoka Hospital . Mesu, 3, was hit by a car near Yako Village in Nadroga two weeks ago.

He is yet another victim of a road accident. He could lose both his legs.

According to a Police report he had crossed the road while his parents were still paying their bus fares.

An emotional father Manurere Erone Tomasi said Mesu was the third-youngest out of his five children and he has a twin sister.

“We are looking forward to see him and his twin sister is lonely at home,” Mr Tomasi said.

“He would be running around our home right now but he’s lying in the hospital bed. We hope that he recovers well. Our home is lonesome without him. Our prayers are with him.”

He said whatever the outcome young Mesu would be treated with care at home.

His maternal grandmother Lanieta Lala is looking forward to her grandson’s return to join the other four at their home.

“I did not dream this would happen to him,” Ms Lala said beside young Mesu’s hospital bed.

“I was the one who carried him up when he was thrown metres away. I’m still in shock thinking about it.”

Ms Lala said the best help young Mesu needed at the moment was prayers.
