Fijian Pearls Reijieli Daveiua will play in her new position in the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea next month.

“Preparation for me is going on well and the new role brings a new challenge,”Daveiua said.

“I used to play goal defender (GD) or goal keeper (GK), but my new role now will be both defending and attacking.

And I have to be physically, mentally and spiritually fit for that.

The Fiji Corrections Service officer wants to make her country proud.

“This new position has been challenging for me since it’s not an easy position as I will battle with Vaiti Waqatabu who has been playing in this position since she started playing netball.

“I will get out there be very competitive on court and I believe this will be my time to shine.

“I’m a humble person and this is what has taken me this far. I want to thank the Almighty God for his protection and my parents, Timoci Ratukabu and Vasemaca Ratukabu,” Daveiua said.

“My mum is always my role model; she keeps on pushing me to reach my goal which I have done today.”

The 23-year-old also acknowledged her employers the Fiji Corrections Service for their support.

Meanwhile, the Fijian Pearls head Pool One with Vanuatu and Cook Islands while Samoa leads Pool Two with PNG, Tonga and Solomon Islands.

“This is a big achievement for a small organisation. We have 500 rated players plus new players, youngsters. While there had been no gold medal, the important one is that we have an achievement and most of our players getting international rating.titles. We aim for wins but we still work hard,” she said.
