Sinai Situation Calms Down

There has been no development on the situation in the Sinai and things have quitened down.

Republic of Fiji Military Forces Land Force Commander Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho yesterday assured that our soldiers were safe.

This was after six mortar rounds landed in the camp housing Fijian peacekeepers on Wednesday night as the conflict between warring parties escalated in Egypt.

In a previous interview Colonel Qiliho said there was minimal damage to the structures in the American-sponsored Multinational Force and Observers headquarters.

Battalion Commander in Sinai, Lieutenant-Colonel Talemaivatuwiri had reported to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces that they took necessary precautionary measures on Wednesday night until everything settled.
