Four of our local students were over the moon as they graduated from the Indonesian Cultural and Arts programme during the Indonesia Channel 2015 at Sekolah Pariwisata, on Thursday night.

Sera Dugucanavanua from the Department of Social Welfare said she really learned a lot about Indonesian culture.

“Within the three months I learned how to make Brtik also how to play the traditional instrument called the Gamalang. I learnt their traditional dance called the Gambyiong and how to speak Bahasa Indonesia,” Sera said.

The three-month programme provided an opportunity to learn about Indonesia. Participants showcased what they learned within the duration of their stay.

“I learned a lot not only from Indonesia but other countries specially their lifestyle, I learned how to respect others culture and lifestyle, I would like to thank the Indonesian embassy in Fiji and also the Department of Social Welfare in nominating me for this programme,” she said

Another participant Lepani Delai said three months was not a problem.

“I’m a performer and I know what is expected from me, through this scholarship I learned about the different culture we have in the World,” Delai said.

The other two participants were Elijah Dau and Akosita Gaunavou; the students are due to leave Indonesia on the 15th of this month.
