Tributes flowed as a large crowd gathered at the Namosau Methodist Church in Ba on Saturday for the funeral of Reverend Sarwesh Singh, the late Superintendent of the Veilomani Boys Home.

Reverend Singh died on Wednesday, June 10.

He was the senior pastor of the Namosau Methodist Church and was the eldest of nine siblings. His sermons catered for the English and Hindi services that were held each Sunday.

His second youngest sister Jennifer Prakash, based in New Zealand, gave the eulogy.

She said her family and the congregation would find it hard to farewell to him.

“Whenever there was a need for a spokesperson for the family we all turned to him,” Ms Prakash said.

“There’s so much memories and I’m struggling to find the right words. We all miss you.”

She said all who knew him were familiar with his way of handling difficult situations calmly.

“We enjoyed every moment being with him and he had a great heart for the unfortunate,” Ms Prakash said.

Also delivery tributes during the funeral were Reverend Immanuel Reuben, Reverend Singh’s son Pastor Eric Singh and Christian Citizenship and Social Services Secretary Reverend Iliesa Naivalu – each reminiscing about their fond memories of the late Reverend Singh.

Ms Prakash said his timeless bond formed between the congregation and the late Reverend Singh would live on.

“He was my strength and the one we all counted on and we will really miss him,” she said.

The late Reverend Singh is survived by his wife Chand Singh, his two sons, Eric and Ivan Singh and eight grand children.
