Meresamoavi Ravula, 15, of Nakasi High School, the Central Eastern Division winner, has won the national finals of the Blood Donor Day oratory contest.

The oratory contest, held in conjunction with World Blood Donor Day had three divisional winners that competed for the national finals at the Nadogo Central College in Macuata last Saturday.

The Nakasi High School oratory team had prepared well for two weeks and came out winners of the Central Eastern Division.

School principal Wasu Deo was pleased with the achievement.

“I am so happy for Meresamoavi; she has made the school proud with her great achievement; the school will continue to enter such contests to remain the top winner and this is indeed a great moment for the school,” he said.

The theme for the oratory contest was, ‘Thank you for saving my life’.

It was also the first time that the ministry, through the Fiji National Blood Services Unit, had organised a contest at this level.

Meresamoavi, a Year 10 student, won after she spoke on the importance of donating blood and how it can make a difference.
