The European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Mr Neven Mimica has extended support for Fiji’s preparations towards the United Nations Climate Conference in Paris later this year.

He extended the support during a courtesy visit to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, yesterday.

He also acknowledged Fiji’s leadership role in the region and encouraged the Fijian Government to continue advocating against climate change in the regional and international arena.

Commissioner Mimica said the EU wanted to be part of the regional architecture dialogue and improve its development partnerships in the region.

In acknowledging this, Ratu Inoke showed support towards learning good practices from the EU model.

He also expressed appreciation towards Fiji’s re-engagement with the European Union especially through the National Indicative Programme, that would see further development cooperation with the EU.
