Uprising Invests In International Rugby Field

Uprising Beach Resort plans to continue its passion for sports development in Fiji at the national and international level by pursuing the nichesports tourism market.

Uprising will be investing in the development of an international sized rugby training field (currently available), a high performance sports gym, a multi-purpose court, a 25 metre lap pool, sprint tracks and meeting and physio rooms.

Uprising has built a reputation as a strong supporter of local sports and teams, rugby in particular, and has also been able to produce world class Fijian rugby players. Locally owned and managed by a team born and raised in Pacific Harbour, Uprising has a strong desire to continue to provide opportunities to ensure that local employment in the Pacific Harbour area is supported.

Resort owner Rene Munch said they had identified the need for better facilities outside major urban areas.

“Uprising will be able to provide the perfect solution for touring teams coming to Fiji to compete in sports events while still having that special Fiji Island experience. It will also provide our national sporting bodies like rugby, netball, basketball, swimming, soccer an affordable camp option to aid in their preparations for upcoming tours and major competitions,” Munch said.

With these facilities in place, there is hope for an immediate impact in the local community with more opportunities for youths to engage sports as a career opportunity.

“We also hope to build on our relationship with local sporting bodies in order to provide international teams that tour Fiji an experience where they can train with purpose in a single environment and experience Fiji as the holiday destination,” he said.

Uprising is targeting an opening date of 2016 for the new additions as well as 12 new bungalows, specifically designed for such groups. The resort is an authentic Fijian accommodation option – located 45 minutes outside of Suva in Pacific Habour, the Adventure Capital of Fiji. The resort offers quality and a unique range of accommodation options
