It was another win for BLK Naitasiri after proving too strong for Tavua at Ratu Cakobau Park yesterday.

What happened?

Necani Nawaqadau drew first blood in the 5th minute with the opening try. Fullback Etonia Ravatukawa missed the conversion.

Scrum-half Viliame Matai scored the second try in the 23rd minute, Ravatukawa made the conversion for the Highlanders to lead 12-0.

First-five eighth Kini Douglas was the third try-scorer two minutes later with a try converted by Ravatukawa to extend the lead 19-0.

Tavua replied in the 34th minute after a penalty which fullback Seveci Tora converted to trail 3-19.

Sireli Kaloucava scored for the Highlanders in the 36th minute.

The try earned a bonus point. Ravatukawa’s converted to put them 26-3.

Halftime: BLK Naitasiri 26-3 Tavua

Telecom Fijian Warrior and Naitasiri tighthead Joeli Veitayaki copped a yellow card, the Highlanders’ first of the season.

Tikiko Uluiviti (Naitasiri) scored in the 64th minute. Ravatukawa converted. Scores 33-3. Former Fiji 7s rep and Highlanders veteran wing Nasoni Roko proved his class with a try in the 69th minute, Ravatukawa’s converted for 40-3.

Tavua had the final score to winger Semi Rika. Conversion was successful. Fulltime:   BLK Naitasiri 40 – 10 Tavua.

Star turn: Nawaqadau was named Man of the Match.

Big play: Tavua had their moments, but Naitasiri’s superiority in skill and ability to maintain composure under pressure saw them through to another win in the end.

BLK Naitasiri head coach Jioji Rinakama, “We got the win and I’m happy as well as the boys that we managed to get a bonus-point win.

“There is still room for so much improvement. Of course we thank God for this bonus win.”

Tavua coach Taniela Tupa, “Naitasiri is a good team and they’re a champion side.”
