Cadet Training ‘Significant’

Students of Tavua District Secondary School have been told that cadet training plays a significant role in character building.
The comment came from Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) chief of staff Land Force Command Lieutenant-Colonel Alipate Vosaicake while officiating at the school’s cadet passing-out parade at Tavua’s Garvey Park yesterday.
Lieutenant-Colonel Vosaicake reminded the students of the significance of the cadet training, saying it would help them when they pursued individual career prospects.
“Discipline is neither the fancy haircut nor the beautiful smile, but the self-control to project you to the height of your dreams,” he said.
“You continually are fighting battles between what you want to be in the future and what your peers want you to be.”
Lieutenant-Colonel Vosaicake commended the school administration and parents for allowing their children to undertake cadet training.
“I want to assure you that RFMF will always be ready to lend a helping hand in moulding our children for the future,” he said.
It was a sea of colours as young and old gathered at the Garvey Park for the school’s fourth cadet passing-out parade.
More than 180 students took part in the parade.
To end the day’s festivities a parade procession was held through the streets of Tavua with the RFMF brass band leading the eight platoons.
