Maraia Proud Of Her Young Achiever

An emotional Maraia Nakautoga shed tears of joy at the Tavua District Secondary school cadet passing-out parade when her daughter, Elenoa Nakautoga, received the Outstanding Officer Award.
Elenoa, a Year 11 student, was among 187 others who took part in the schools fourth passing-out parade at Garvey Park, Tavua, yesterday.
The Tamasua, Yasawa, native was commanding officer for Bravo Company as well.
“I am proud to be her mum and I believe that she is capable of achieving a bright future with her participating in this cadet training,” Mrs Nakautoga said.
“She has always been a well-disciplined girl and this was no surprise for me. I am so happy for what she has achieved today.”
The soft-spoken 17-year-old said she was modest about her achievement.
“The struggles for past few days have now paid off and I am very grateful to be awarded the best officer,” Elenoa said.
She said she hoped she would serve as a good example for her juniors and peers.
“It was tough during the training week because I had to endure the growling and orders by the instructors, but it was all a good experience for me.”
