Saraswati College in Nausori celebrated a rare feat yesterday.

The school hosted their four students who recently took part in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand earlier this month.

The Vodafone Fijian U20 reps are Iosefo Verevou, Nikhil Chand, Tevita Waranaivalu and Setareki Hughes.

College principal Premila Kumar said the boys were nurtured and moulded to be good citizens and they proved that in the sports field.

“They made the school proud,” Kumar said. “They are the first students from this school to represent our country by qualifying for the national team.

College manager Sat Narayan said the school would continue to support students. “The success is a collective contribution whereby the school helps the boys balance their sports with school work and we are so proud of them,” he said.

Waranaivalu said he would continue to play football. “I started playing since I was 12 and I will continue to be involved with the support of my friends.”
