$976, 147 rebate cheque was presented to Silver Nitrate Media Private Limited by the Fijian Government yesterday.
This was issued for the production of the Bollywood Film, Warning, which was shot in Rakiraki in 2013.
The Attorney-General and Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said: “Fiji being highlighted in these films leads to an interest in the country.”
He said these rebates have a positive impact on the tourism industry and promotes Fiji globally.

Process
The rebates go through thorough scrutiny particularly by Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority explained Mr Sayed-Khaiyum.
“It is very critical that we once again highlight the fact that the reason why we give these rebates is to firstly understand that the production spent in Fiji has a multiplier effect.”
“It is good of course because on a number of fronts, it does create economic activity and it also creates jobs.
“It creates a certain level of expertise that did not exist prior to that. It promotes Fiji because this is part of the marketing strategy.’’
Through the production of Warning, around fifty locals were hired.

Film Making
Film Fiji is expecting a boost in film making by Hollywood and Bollywood directors.
Chairperson Shaenaz Voss said they are expecting to shoot five films this year.
“We have another production which has a similar background to the underwater Chinese production earlier this year.”
She said there was also an increase in local participation in the film production.
“There are a lot of talented young people who are interested in this particular field.”
These talents are being tapped into through the various workshops held by Film Fiji.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum presented the cheque at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority headquarters.
