Ratu Kadavulevu School’s top cadet, Sekove Vuniyayawa, says his training has helped to prepare him to face the future.

The headboy and parade commander Sekove received the Baton of Honour in yesterday’s passing-out parade at the school in Lodoni.

Vuniyayawa, from Sabeto Village in Nadi, said: “I am so proud of my achievement because I know I have done well in the past days and weeks of training,” he said.

He acknowledged that the cadet training was a good platform for the future for him and all those final year senior students.

“This cadet training has taught me that there are more responsibilities ahead,” he said.

“I have also learned to make ethical decisions so I can achieve my full God-given potential. Leaders aren’t afraid of what the crowd will say but instead a leader will do the right thing and will stand alone if he has to,” he said.

“The cadet programme has instilled few basics on how to go through life; we were trained to be patient and to wait on whatever commands is given and most importantly we were trained to be punctual at all times,” he said.
