Northern students have been encouraged to work hard and become knowledge-based citizens in the future.

The Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Mahendra Reddy, made the call on Wednesday to students of Shri Guru Nanak Khalsa College while visiting schools in Labasa.

He said student today were fortunate that they were raised in the multi-cultural society and bright lights and better roads as well.

“My message to teachers will be different from you students so that you can have better future because you are so fortunate that you are raised in a multi-cultural society,” Mr Reddy said.

He said the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, had a vision of making Fiji a knowledge-based society.

The minister also visited Bulileka College, Bulileka Primary School, Shri Guru Nanak Khalsa Primary School and Shri Guru Nanak Khalsa College.
