Gabriela Kado, 12, aims to be one of Fiji’s best swimmers and represent her country to the Pacific Games.

Kado, who was among the participants at the BSP Long Course Age Group Nationals yesterday, used the competition to build up her skills in the sport.

The Year Eight student of Yat Sen Secondary School took part in the 50 metres, 100m, 200m, and 400m free style.

“It was a tough competition in my age group,” Kado said.

“I tried my best and clocking 5; 15.75 minutes in the 400 freestyle is good.

“I want to represent my country next year if I given the opportunity.”

Meanwhile, Nadi Barracudas Swimming Club won the overall title winning 71 gold, 52 silver and 50 bronze medals.

In second place was Dolphin Swimming Club with 46 gold, 52 silver and 35 bronze while Tritons Swimming Club settled for third position with 46 gold, 20 silver and nine bronze medals.

The three-day-BSP Long Course Age Group Nationals ended yesterday.
