An estimated of $110.5 million worth of construction work took place during the March quarter of this year. This was revealed in the latest Fiji Bureau of Statistics Statistical News.

This follows a survey s carried out of registered private buildings and civil works contractors.

It said this is $4.4 million or 4.2 per cent higher than the December quarter of 2014 and is $8.5 million or 8.4 per cent higher than the March quarter of 2014.

“Value of work put in place for new buildings and capital repairs was $39.9 million, an increase of $3.6 million or 9.8 percent compared to the December quarter of 2014 and a $0.2 million or 0.5 percent increase over the March quarter of 2014.

“Statistics indicate the value of work-put-in place for Non- residential Buildings and Residential buildings were $31.0 million and $8.9 million respectively. These were mainly for construction work on Commercial Buildings, shops, Religious and Educational Institutions,” the report said.
