Talking About Tradition, Culture

The Ministry of the iTaukei Affairs is happy that conversational iTaukei is now part of the school curriculum.
Mickey Bird wonders if this can go a step further by also teaching some traditions and cultures.
Surveying right
Some villages in Rewa and Tailevu were told by SODELPA campaigners before the general elections not to accept the village survey carried out by the Ministry of the iTaukei Affairs. They claimed all pieces of land outside the survey would be owned by Government.
Now they know the truth and have been advised to tell the ministry if they want the survey.
Only surveyed villages will be recognised by Government in terms of developments.
Chiefly ways
All the 1171-iTaukei villages are now advised to install their chiefs and have this witnessed by the Roko Tui. Their names and positions are to be gazetted to be officially recognised by the Government. Failure to follow these procedures will affect the village communication with the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs and Government.
