Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) president Joseph Rodan (Senior) has reminded Team Fiji to have the right mindset before the 2015 Pacific Games next month in Papua New Guinea.

“Right now athletes should psychologically prepare themselves and aim to win that gold medal,” Rodan said.

“We are going there to win gold, we are not going there to win silver or bronze. We want to make Fiji proud and we want to go out there and come back as a winner.” Rodan said host country Papua New Guinea had been longing to meet Fiji at the Games because they knew how strongly Team Fiji had been preparing for the two-week Games.

“PNG will be looking forward to see us. I think they are concerned and worry about us. They know Fiji is coming in very strongly and we want to be up there,” he said.

“Our athletes need to psychologically prepare themselves now. I have stressed in my talks that the entire physical workout had been done. Now we need to have our mindset right.

“I told the athletes that the gold medal is waiting for them. They need to go out there and do something about it. You can only learn from the past and use those skills to move on,” Rodan said.
