Former national 7s rep Jiuta Lutumailagi feels blessed after being named in the Fiji Bati 9s team for the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea next month.

With less than nine days to go for the games the Nadroumai, Nadroga native told SUNsports how blessed he was to be part of the team.

“I want to thank God for giving me this talent not only as a rugby union player but I also have the ability to play other sports like rugby league.

“God gave us different talents but mine is special and I want to thank him and also the support from my family and friends have been overwhelming,” Lutumailagi said.

Lutumailagi have only represented Fiji in the 2009 Pacific Mini Games in Cook Islands being part of the national rugby 7s team but this year will be a different challenge for the scrumhalf.

“I’m excited to be part of this Fiji Bati 9s team and I’m ready to do my country proud,” he added.

Head coach Maika Vunivere said Lutumailagi would be a player to watch in PNG.

“Lutumailagi impressed the selectors during the trials and during our three 9s tournaments.

“Right now we are focusing on our match fitness players are working on defence and attack but we thankful to have services of senior players like Asaeli Saravaki, Etika Rokobuli and Esira Dokuni who have been helpful to our new players,” Vunivere said.
