$4.5m McDonald’s To Open In December

The McDonald’s (Fiji) chain of restaurant will open a new $4.5 million investment restaurant in Lautoka by mid-December.
This will be their fourth restaurant around the country.
It is expected to create employment to 60 people plus 10 management positions.
The site is of the new restaurant is located along Vitogo Parade in between Westpac Bank and Total Service station.
Construction begins next week.
Managing Director Marc McElrath said the new restaurant boasts state of the art features – not seen in the other three.
“It is a proud day for McDonald’s as this is our fourth restaurant and the first one in Lautoka and we are looking forward to start off a great construction project.”
Mr McElrath said they have invested close to a million dollars for upgrades in the Nadi, Suva and Laucala Bay restaurants in the last 18-months
McDonald’s is also opening the Ronald McDonald House project later in the year – a charity project which will be set up to help the children in Fiji.
“It’s still early days of the set up of this charity – basically the funding will come from McDonald’s Fiji and from around the community to be used to assist children for medical treatments.”

A boost for Lautoka city
Come December, Lautoka City dwellers need not travel for an hour to grab a Macca’s.
“We have been receiving a lot of request from our visitors to Lautoka, especially tourists that there are not enough standard restaurants here,” said Lautoka City Council chief executive Jone Nakauvadra said.
“The opening of the Lautoka McDonald’s restaurant is something we are all proud of in Lautoka. Now we don’t have to take our family to Nadi for a treat.”
He said the location of the Lautoka restaurant is ideal as well.
“Lautoka is the second biggest city in Fiji and this is the sign of their confidence in Lautoka with Lautoka has its own port of call, we are only 20-minutes away from the International Airport and there is lots of scope for improvement in Lautoka,” he said.
