On September 7, 2009, the accused saw her with another man in the city and confronted her. When the complainant told the Shaheen that she wanted to be with the other man and not him, the accused stabbed her.
A bystander, Pita Lotu, came to save the victim, punched Shaheen and took the knife from him and handed him over to Police.
The complainant’s medical report and doctor’s evidence stated that she suffered multiple lacerations.
