What happened: Savenaca Nakalevu sealed the win for the Vodafone Fijian Under-23 in their 2-1 victory against the Wellington Phoenix Premiers in the Fiji Airways Wellington Phoenix tour match at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

The U23 side used the match as their final build-up before the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea which kicks off this Saturday.

The visitors took an early lead in the 19th minute through Nathaniel Hailmariam scored.

Halftime: Wellington Phoenix Premiers 1 -0 Fijian U23

The Fijians came back firing and scored the equaliser in the 54th minute by Christopher Wasasala.

Nakalevu scored the winning goal in 80th minute to give Fijians a well deserving win going into the PG.

Star turn: Jale Dreloa was the star for Fijians. Dreloa control the play well to lead the attack of the Fijians, which resulted in two goals.

Comments: Fiji U23 Assistant Coach Imdad Ali: “The win is a great boost and we are on track for the Pacific Games.”
