Win 1 For Macuata

Macuata won their first game in the 2015 Skipper Cup competition after beating Tebara Bus Tailevu at Ganilau Park in Savusavu yesterday.
What happened:
Tailevu drew first blood with a try to Joe Navuya which was converted.
The visitors extended their lead with a drop-goal from Navuya.
Halftime: Tailevu 8-0 Macuata
The Macuata boys came back in the second-half reinvigorated.
A red card was awarded to Tailevu’s Kameli Tilalati, but Akapusi Tulovo missed the penalty.
After a tussle of possession Ratu Isoa Waqawai managed to cross the Tailevu try-line which was converted.
Minutes before fulltime Waqaiqai dotted down his second try which was again converted.
Fulltime: Tailevu 8 – 14 Macuata
Star turn:
Tilalati was red-carded by referee Kaveni Talemaivalagi for a dangerous tackle which was the turning point in the game.
Big play:
Ratu Isoa Waqawai scoring two tries for Macuata.
Comments:
Tailevu coach Jone Kaila said: “I was not happy, not convinced with some of the decisions made on the field. But congratulations to Macuata for winning their first game.”
Macuata assistant coach Julian Ravuiwasa said; “I’m happy for our first win and we’re learning every week. The boys followed the plan and we are looking forward to take on Suva this weekend.”
