Suva defender Jale Dreloa is among players eyed by professional clubs overseas.

Wellington Phoenix FC, after their first match of the Fiji Airways-sponsored tour against the Vodafone Fijian national side at the ANZ Stadium last Saturday, identified Dreloa among the few players in their radar.

“Dreloa and a few other U23 players played well,” Wellington Phoenix Premiers coach Andy Hedge said.

“We will monitor them again in the second match in Ba on Tuesday (tomorrow) and at the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.

“We’ve seen a lot of talents in the Fijian U23 side. We watched the Fijian players playing in the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand and they were impressive.

“We will discuss the recruitment with our coaching staff.”

Meanwhile, Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Bob Kumar said it was good news that Wellington Phoenix coaching staff had identified some players.

“We want to see our players playing for top clubs to become professional players like Roy Krishna,” Kumar said.

“During the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand, some overseas clubs were interested to recruit Fijian players.

“We are awaiting more details before we can take the next step.”

Krishna, is the lone Fijian playing professional football with Wellington Phoenix FC in A-League.

The Wellington Phoenix FC play  the Vodafone Fijian team at 6pm at Govind Park tomorrow.

Meanwhie the Vodafone Fijian U23-Wellington Phoenix Premier match  will be played at 3pm.
