Ravindra Nath retained his title in the Lincoln Refrigeration-sponsored Fiji Car Club  Quarter Mile Drag Race at Taunovo yesterday.

Nath clocked 10.10 seconds at the Taunovo Bay Airstrip at Taunovo, Deuba.

Finishing second was Tauz Khan with a time of 10.74secs and third was Ravi Nair who clocked 10.75secs.

Thirty cars participated and Fiji Car Club secretary Amit Prasad said more people were taking up the sport.

“Normally we have 10 to 15 racing cars participating but this year the number has increased,”Prasad said.

“This is a sign of progress and it is good for the sport. The weather was good and everything is working in our favour after we postponed the event twice because of wet weather.

“We have two categories this year; the street categories and the race legal categories.

“This is to encourage more racers to come and participate.

“This is not only a male sport and I urge women to join us.

“We would want to treat this drag race as a family fun day.”

Six Lincoln Refrigeration–sponsored quarter mile drag races are planned for the year.
