Ramabuke Scoops Crown

First-year Then India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam Nursing School student Elena Roberta Ramabuke (Miss Taveuni) was crowned the Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival in front of a packed crowd at Subrail Park in Labasa last Saturday.
Ms Taveuni was crowned by Minister for Local Government Parveen Kumar.
The Taveuni lass thanked God for giving her the strength and courage to advocate what she is passionate about.
Ms Ramabuke spoke on cyber-bullying during the week-long carnival.
“I chose cyber-bullying or cyber crime because I realised that I wanted to do something different by creating awareness on this issue,” she said.
Ms Ramabuke thanked her hardworking parents for encouraging her and being so supportive.
“I would like to thank my sisters and student nurses for their support every night during the week-long carnival.”
The 19-year-old was born and bred at Olosara in Sigatoka and has maternal links to Vatulele Island off the Coral Coast.
She has set her eyes on becoming a nurse and later to develop her medical career to become a doctor.
Mother Salote Ramabuke said she was very proud of her daughter and the whole family was happy for the achievement.
Ms Ramabuke wins a return air ticket to Auckland, New Zealand.
