Sheraton & Westin Resorts Fiji have appointed Samantha Elbourne to the position of Director of Sales based in its Sydney office.

General manager Fiji Complex, Shane Cunning, said: “‘We are delighted to welcome Samantha back working for the Fijian properties.

“Who else better to sell not only Sheraton and Westin Fiji resorts but also Fiji as a destination than one of Fiji’s own.”

This role previously held by expatriates is based in Sydney and for the first time will be held by a Fiji Citizen.

“‘This is something we are very proud of and shows that the Fiji properties are defiantly making its mark within Starwood as we see more and more Fijians taking up key roles overseas,” he said.

“It has been a five-year plan to get Samantha to where she is now and it’s our continuous goal to develop the local talent to senior management roles’ he continued.”

Her journey

Ms Elbourne started her Starwood journey with Denarau Golf & Racquet Club in 2001.

She joined the sales team at the end of 2004 as a coordinator and was promoted to Business Development Executive in 2007.

This growth within the Fiji properties shows Samantha’s dedication and ambitions and with the help of Starwood’s training programs Samantha advanced within the company.

Ms Elbourne was again promoted to Business Development Manager to Four Points by Sheraton Perth and moved to Australia in 2012 and has now completed a full circle returning to the Fiji properties based in Sydney.

She brings back many years of experience and learnings from Perth and Starwood is confident she will excel and fit perfectly back into the Sales & Marketing team.
