Nadi Tour A Success

The Veiuto Primary School Under-10 rugby team capped off a successful tour to Nadi last weekend.
This is in preparation for the Suva Primary School Kaji Rugby quarterfinals this weekend.
The young ruggers defeated Nadi Airport School 28-0 in their first game at Prince Charles Park before losing out in a close game against St Mary’s Primary School 17-19.
Coach Benedito Rawalai was happy with the outcome of the tour.
“We identified our weakness and will try to improve on it before the showdown this weekend,” Rawalai said.
“It was a good exposure for the players playing in a new environment.”
He thanked the parents for their support enabling the tour to eventuate.
The tour is part of a five- year development plan.
VPS parent’s committee president Malakai Tueli said the tour was a success.
He said the next step now was to tour New Zealand or Australia to cap off players last year in primary school.
“Developing rugby at grassroot level is very important and we want to make sure they are nurtured well for the future,” Tueli said.
He also thanked CJ Patel Group of Companies, Digicel and FIJI Water for supporting the team.
The tour was also an educational one for the children who visited the Nadi Meteorological Office, Nadi International Airport and Fire Station, Denarau Island as well as the Sabeto mudpool.
